Delta State Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof. Evang. Patrick Mouboghare paid an inspection visit to Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-uku and he was received by the Rector of the Polytechnic, Prof. Mrs. Stella C. Chiemeke, the Registrar of the Polytechnic, Pastor Mrs. F.N. Nweke and other principal officers of the institution.
One of the highlight at the commissioner’s visit was the visit to the department of Fashion Design and Clothing Technology where he was received by the Dean of the School, H.O.D and other lecturers of the Department. On entering the practical hall of the department, the H.O.D. of the Department briefed the commissioner about the department responsibilities and also on the need to make face mask for the polytechnic. Explaining further, the H.O.D. stated that there are about eight tailors on ground and each tailor makes about fifty face mask a day.
The Rector thereafter presented samples of the face mask produced from the fashion department to the honourable commissioner informing him of the readiness of the institution to curtail the spread of the pandemic through the use of face mask and observing every other lay-down precautionary measures.
The commissioner and his entourage went to inspect the practical class of the students where they are thought on how to make clothing.
The Rector further inform the commissioner that on resumption, no one will be allowed into the school premises without the use of as directed by the state government.
The commissioner in his remarks expressed his happiness on the readiness of the management to curtail the spread of the virus. He went further to appreciate the Rector and her team for their contributions so far, and stated that the state government is looking forward to resuming all academic activities by 30th May, 2020.
