The Rector of the Polytechnic, Professor Mrs Stella Chinye Chiemeke has bagged the Time Africa Magazine Person Of The Year 2020 award for Administrative Excellence penultimate Tuesday 28th July, 2020

Speaking during the presentation ceremony at the polytechnic, Mr Chidi-Peters Okorie, Managing Director/Editor in CHIEF OF TIME AFRICA MAGAZINE, who led the magazines officials to the polytechnic, said the award was borne out of the rectors immense contributions to the development of the polytechnic and by extension the society. He commended the rector for her passion and pursuance of academic excellence that saw her being the Second Female Professor of Computer Science in Nigeria.


 The Editor-in-Chief praised the rector and her management team for their unwaiving commitment to the introduction of innovations, infrastructures and manpower development of the polytechnic.

Mr Okorie specifically thanked Professor Chiemeke for he invaluable efforts in ensuring Delta State Polytechnic , ogwashi-uku attained her present status of having all her courses accredited by NBTE and the recent Webometric ranking which placed delta state polytechnic Ogwashi-Uku amongst the top three institutions of higher learning in delta state, emerging 8th best amongst Nigerian polytechnics and 102 position amongst higher institutions in Nigeria.

Speaking further, Mr Okorie said Time Africa magazine has carried out an extensive and comprehensive background check on the achievements of the rector as an academic and the polytechnic as an emerging world class polytechnic.

 He described the rector as a pace setter, a philosopher, a role model and astute manager of human and material resources.

Responding, the rector , who was represented by the deputy rector of the polytechnic, Mr Leonard Ojogbo thanked the management of time Africa magazine for identifying with the polytechnic and recognizing the rector with such a prestigious award. He said the award would spur the rector to re-double her efforts to the services of the polytechnic in particular and humanity in general, saying the award is a source of motivation to the rest of us.

The highlight of the ceremony was the formal presentation of the award and current copy of the Time Africa Magazine (in which the rector featured) to the Deputy Rector.

Present at the ceremony were, the Registrar of the Polytechnic, Mrs. F.N. Nweke, the polytechnic librarian, DR. Alex Obuh, Directors, Heads Of Departments (HODS) and the polytechnic public relations officer, Mr Manfred l. Oyibogeye
