Students of Tertiary Institutions in Delta State have been enjoined to key into the Tertiary Institutions Entrepreneurship Programme (TEP) of the State Government, designed to help refine their innovative business ideas into a nationally accepted brand.
The Delta State Honourable Commissioner for Youth Development, Comrade Michael Ifeanyi Egwunyenga, gave this advice when he visited the Polytechnic on Monday 13th September, 2021 in continuation of his tour of Tertiary Institutions across Delta State.
Comrade Egwunyenga informed the Students of the Governor’s interests in their developments and welfare and therefore, has mandated that the aforementioned training be carried out in all State owned Tertiary Institutions.
The Commissioner explained further that the essence of TEP was to build students business potentials by identifying and up-scaling their entrepreneurial drive and thereafter set them up through a venture capital arrangement.
Comrade Egwunyenga, who engaged the students in interactive session where questions and answers were taken, revealed that TEP was designed for undergraduates in the State owned Tertiary Institutions who have enterprising mindset with exceptional business initiatives and must meet a benchmark of Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) to qualify for the programme.
The students were encouraged to follow the Ministry’s programmes through the various social media handles (Facebook, Instagram) and Website, adding that in due course, the application portal would be open for use.
Meanwhile, the students were advised to visit their School Entrepreneurship Development Centre for more details about TEP.
Earlier, the Commissioner paid a courtesy call on the Rector, where he briefed the Rector on his activity on Campus and the necessity to get the students to participate.
The Rector, Professor Emmanuel Achuenu welcomed the Honourble Commissioner and commended his singular efforts to bring the programme to the doorstep of the students. He urged the Commissioner to allow his Ministry to carry the Polytechnic along, “The Polytechnic is ready to partner with any group or persons for meaningful development,” he added.
