INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL ADVERTISEMENT VACANCIES

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the following positions at Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-uku Health Center, Delta State:

1. Medical Director;
2. Chief Medical Officer;
3. Medical Doctor;
4. Staff Nurse II/Staff Midwife II;
5. Medical Laboratory Scientist;
6. Medical Laboratory Technician.

1. Medical Director (Director of Medical Services), Polytechnic Health Centre (CONMESS 07)

The Director of the Polytechnic Health Centre is the Chief Medical Director of the Polytechnic.  He/She must be medically qualified and shall be responsible to the Rector of the Polytechnic for the day to day administration of the Health Centre and also advising same on the general health matters of the Polytechnic.  He/She must be vision driven.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• MBBS Degree from a recognized University and registered with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, with 10 years’ post qualification cognate experience and holds current license to practice or a candidate with post-graduate medical qualification in Medicine, with at least 10 years’ post-qualification cognate experience; plus NYSC discharge Certificate.

2. Chief Medical Officer (CONMESS 06)

The Chief Medical Officer of the Polytechnic Health Centre shall be responsible to the Medical Director of the Polytechnic Health Centre for the day to day administration of the Polytechnic Health Centre.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Candidates must possess MBBS Degree from a recognized University and registered with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, with 8 years’ post-qualification cognate experience or a candidate with post-graduate medical qualification in Medicine with at least 8 years’ post-qualification cognate experience and holds current license to practice; plus NYSC discharge Certificate.

3. Medical Doctor (CONMESS 06)

The Medical Doctor of the Polytechnic Health Centre is the Senior Medical Doctor of the Polytechnic, and shall be responsible to the Polytechnic Medical Director for the day to day administration of the Health Centre and also advising same on general health matters of the Polytechnic.  He must be vision driven.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Candidates must possess MBBS Degree from a recognized University and registered with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, with 5 years’ post-qualification cognate experience or a candidate with post-graduate medical qualification in Medicine with 5 years’ post-qualification cognate experience and holds current license to practice; plus NYSC discharge Certificate.

4. Staff Nurse II/Staff Midwife II (CONHESS 7)

Staff Nurse II/Staff Midwife II is a health personnel at the Polytechnic Health Centre, who:

• Attends to health needs of Students and Staff after the Medical Officer must have made prescriptions;
• Provides general nursing care;
• Maintains hygiene environment for nursing in the Polytechnic Health Centre;
• Keeps child-mortality and morbidity records of medications;
• Administers anti and post-natal dressing and injections, and performing other duties as may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Candidates must possess B.Sc. Nursing (minimum of Second Class lower division) and NYSC discharge Certificate plus registration with Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN); RN and RM with current practice license.

5. Medical Laboratory Scientist (CONHESS 08)

The Medical Laboratory Scientist of the Polytechnic, shall perform on routine basis, simple diagnostic tests in the areas of medical microbiology, virology, histopathology, parasitology, hematology and Blood Group Serology; participating in the training of lower cadre (Laboratory Assistants and Medical Laboratory Technicians).  Supervising the lower cadre in the preparation of stains, reagents and simple media for bacterial propagation.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Candidates must possess a good Bachelor’s Degree (minimum of Second Class Lower Division) in Medical Laboratory Science, registered with the Institute of Medical Laboratory Scientist (IMLS) plus NYSC discharge Certificate and license to practice.

6. Medical Laboratory Technician (CONHESS 07/1)

The Medical Laboratory Technician is a Senior Medical Laboratory Technician in the Polytechnic Health Centre and responsible to the Chief Medical Director of the Polytechnic for the effective administration of the Health Centre.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Candidates must possess Medical Laboratory Technician Certificate in Medical Laboratory Science from a recognized School of Health Technology with evidence of registration with the Medical Laboratory Council of Nigeria Membership of relevant Professional body is needed.

CONDITIONS OF SERVICE

• Terms and conditions of service would be specified in the letter of appointment.
• The remuneration and benefits are as applicable in the Nigerian Polytechnic System.
