It was a moment of joy for the Polytechnic Community and in particular, the Rector – Professor Emmanuel Achuenu as he was made Patron of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Ogwashi-uku Area Command. The investiture ceremony, which took place on Tuesday 14th September, 2021 at the Permanent Site of the Polytechnic, attracted Management, Staff and Students and close associates of the Rector.
Speaking at the Ceremony, Professor Achuenu stated that he was highly elated with the honour done him. He described it as an encouragement that would motivate him for greater performance as an Academia, Researcher, Leader and Philanthropist “with sincere gratitude to God Almighty, I feel highly honoured today for this recognition as a Patron for this prestigious body – PCRC. I therefore, with all humility accept to be a Patron, having served as a Member of the body at Jos for many years”, he stressed.
The Rector, who promised to keep the flag flying, called for total co-operation and support for the PCRC, praying God Almighty to strengthen and sustain the body to excel in their endeavours.
Earlier in his speech, the Chairman PCRC – Ogwashi-uku Area Command, Dr. Dan Awana who led the team, commended Professor Achuenu for scaling through the long list of nominees, saying that making Professor Achuenu a Patron was in recognition of his steadfastness and selfless contributions to social and human capital developments.
Dr. Awana further commended the Rector for his acceptance to serve, saying that PCRC will tap from his work and leadership role. He urged others to emulate Professor Achuenu, whom he described as an Social-Engineer, as no society could grow without devoted and patriotic men.
The Public Relations Officer of the Polytechnic, Mr. Manfred Oyibogbeye, while thanking the PCRC for the recognition, described the Rector as a man of honour, therefore worthy of such recognition.
Highlight of the Ceremony was the official presentation of Certificate and decoration of the Rector with the insignia of office.
